CJB team builds on 2020 success and looks forward to a new year
CARLISLE, PA. - November 11, 2020 - 2020 was one of the strangest years many can remember. In a time where a globalb pandemic upended many ways of life, one constant was the success of CJB Motorsports. Despite the situation, the team once again contended for race wins and championships in the world of sprint car racing.
The team took their curtain call of the year at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. Racing with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at the Last Call event, regular CJB driver Brent Marks was joined by former hot shoe Paul McMahan for the race.
On Friday, November 6th, Marks timed in ninth in the first group of qualifying while McMahan timed in 12th in group two. Marks finished 12th in his heat race and McMahan was 8th in his. Both cars went to the Last Chance Showdown where Marks won and McMahan finished 11th. Marks then started feature in 21st and finished 24th.
The following night saw Marks time in 12th quick in group one while McMahan was 14th in group two. Marks finished 4th in his heat race while McMahan finish 7th in his. McMahan started tenth in the Last Chance Showdown in 10th and finished 12th. Marks started the feature in 15th and finished 22nd.
"Charlotte sure was interesting," said Marks, pilot of the #5 M&M Painting and Construction,BAPS Paints,Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel,Alkaline 88 Water,R.E. Pierson Construction Co., Wolfrun Landscapes, Nyce, Crete & Landis Block and Concrete, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Ecynbro Trucking machine. "Night 1 was a little rough with some issues, we had a good balance both nights in the race car, it was extremely dusty and difficult to maneuver so we were just happy to bring home the car in one piece."
The team now returns to their home base in Pennsylvania to regroup and prepare for 2021. A schedule will be releases at a later date for the CJB #5. Upon completion of his first season in the car, Marks is optimistic about the future.
"I’m proud of the program we were able to build during 2020," Marks said. "Barry and the guys worked hard to give me cars that I can be aggressive with and go out there and win with. We were in the hunt a lot this year and I was excited oh how well we turned the season around."
