WILD WEIKERT: Marks & CJB Contend in Marquee Pennsylvania Event
World of Outlaws swing through the Keystone state to round out July
CARLISLE, PA. - July 21, 2020 - Brent Marks and his CJB team seem to be gaining speed as the month of July carries on. The Pennsylvania based team has spent the month by running nine of their last ten events in their home state. During that run, the team has five top-5's and eight top-10's.
The team contested three straight nights with the Ollie's Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions, beginning with a stop at Williams Grove Speedway near Mechanicsburg, Pa. on Friday, July 17th. Marks timed in 6th, charged from 6th to 1st in his heat race, finished 5th in the dash and 11th in the feature.
Up next was the Bob Weikert Memorial event at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway on Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 19th. Marks, again, was stout by timing in 15th on Saturday evening before finishing 2nd in the heat race and contending with Kyle Larson for the race win. Marks would settle for second but served notice that the CJB machine was in contention.
The following night, Marks timed in 30th, won his heat race and finished 7th in the feature.
"Thought we could grab us a win on Saturday night but unfortunately I just couldn't hold off (Kyle) Larson," said Marks, pilot of the #5 Wolfrun Landscapes, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Ecynbro Trucking machine. "We have had speed and been able to over come a lot."
The events in Pennsylvania continue on as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series swings through for a series of races. The action begins on Tuesday, July 21st at Lernerville Speedway near Sarver for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. From there, the tour heads to Lincoln Speedway near Abbottstown on Thursday, July 23rd before wrapping up at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th.
"I feel like we can compete for wins this weekend," said Marks. "The car has been really good and we just need to put it all together!"
