OVERNIGHT PODIUM: Brent Marks & CJB Score 3rd Place Finish at Port Royal
Team runs two events at Knoxville with Outlaws; Grove and Port on tap
CARLISLE, PA. - June 17, 2020 - It was a busy weekend for Brent Marks and the CJB teams as they competed in three events across two time zones this past weekend.
On Friday, June 12th, the team was in Knoxville, Iowa at the famed Knoxville Raceway for the Brownell's Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Marks timed in 18th in their group, finished 9th in the heat race and 7th in the Last Chance Showdown. The next day, the team competed at Knoxville once again and timed in 13th in their group, finished 10th in their heat race, won the C-main and finished 12th in the Last Chance Showdown.
Once finished in Knoxville, the team trucked from Iowa to Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, a journey of over 930 miles, to compete on Sunday, June 14th. Marks timed in 2nd, finished 2nd in his heat race and charged from 7th to 3rd in the feature with the help of Barry Jackson and the #5 team.

"Knoxville was definitely a big challenge for us," said Marks, pilot of the #5 M&M Painting and Construction, BAPS Paints, Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel, Alkaline 88 Water, R.E. Pierson Construction Co., Wolfrun Landscapes, Nyce, Crete & Landis Block and Concrete, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Ecynbro Trucking machine. "We're trying to find a balance for me that works for my style of driving and just haven't quite gotten there yet. We will work hard on that so when Nationals roll around we can be competitive like this team is every year. We had good balance at Port Royal all night and learned a lot about a direction to go in in order to get me fast during time trials. That's what all these races are about anymore!."
The team will stay near their home base in Carlisle, Pa. as they travel to near by Mehcanicsburg to compete at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, June 19th and Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, June 20th. They will compete during the Pennsylvania Speedweek the following week.
"It's been awhile since I've run PA Speedweek but I'm looking forward to it," said Marks. "It's always great to be able to race night after night. It's a week that's full of hard work but it can be very rewarding as well!"
