ON TO AUGUST: Stewart & CJB Wrap Up July with Pennsylvania Swing
Ironman 55 weekend opens biggest week of the season; Thorson in the 88
Carlisle, PA. - July 30, 2019 - Showing speed and resiliency have CJB Motorsports and driver Shane Stewart excited for the month ahead.
Stewart and the CJB team were in action at the Lernerville Speedway near Sarver, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, July 23rd. The #5 machine timed in 2nd, won the heat race and the dash before running 8th in the feature.
Williams Grove Speedway was next up on the schedule with a weekend double header. On Friday, July 26th, Stewart timed in 21st, finished 6th in the heat race, won the Last Chance Showdown and finished 18th in the feature. The following night saw car #5 timed in 12th, finish 3rd in his heat race, wrecked early in the feature and rallied to finish 16th.
"We had a strong run at Lernerville," said Stewart, pilot of the #5 Killer Instinct Crossbows , Weikert's Livestock, Ecynbro Trucking, Nyce, Crete and Landis Block and Concrete, C&S Lawn & Landscape machine. "Struggled at the Grove on the first night and was trying to find speed. Second night, I felt like we made a huge gains and got caught up in a wreck, which killed out night."
August dawns with a grueling weekend at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 near Pevely, Mo. for the annual Ironman 55 weekend. Stewart and CJB will look to add to a great legacy there before heading to Iowa for the start of the famed NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores in Knoxville, Iowa. During the week, the team will compete in the Bell Helmets Capitani Classic on Sunday, August 4th at the famed half-mile as well as the Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway near Oskaloosa on Monday, August 5th and Tuesday, August 6th. Thursday night will see the #5 machine take to the track to attempt to qualify for the $150,000-to-win event.
"I love Pevely," Stewart said. "Being a former winner of the Ironman, it's a race that I want to do good at plus it gives you some momentum going into Nationals."
As an added bonus, Minden, Nevada's Tanner Thorson will pilot a second entry for CJB Motorsports during the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores. Car #88 will be in action for the Capitani Classic and will compete in the Wednesday night qualifier for the Knoxville Nationals.
