CARLISLE, PA. - June 10, 2019 - The month of June is well underway and CJB Motorsports is crisscrossing the country. Fresh off of a win at the Nashville Fairgrounds, the team took on a trio of short tracks in the upper Midwest.
Up first was a stop at Fairbury (Illi.) Speedway on Tuesday, June 4th. CJB driver Shane Stewart timed in 17th, finished 6th in his heat race, transferred into the feature via the Last Chance Showdown and finished 9th in the feature after starting 22nd.
River Cities Speedway near Grand Forks, N.D. played host to the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series next on Friday, June 7th. Stewart timed in 11th, finished 8th in his heat race and rallied from 23rd to 11th in the feature.
Lastly, the team took on Granite City Speedway near Sauk Rapids, Minn. on Saturday, June 8th. Stewart was 15th fastest in time trials, finished 4th in his heat race and 11th in the feature.
"Had some tough luck at Fairbury at the start of the feature," said Stewart, pilot of the #5 Killer Instinct Crossbows , Weikert's Livestock, Ecynbro Trucking, Nyce, Crete and Landis Block and Concrete, C&S Lawn & Landscape machine. "My guys did a great job getting the front axle changed. Once we got back out, I felt like I had one of the fastest cars on the track. Tough luck on Friday for sure. We just struggled on Saturday. It seems when we qualify better and get ourselves in the dash, we always finish up front and have been in contention to win those races. Have to keep working on that part of our program."
A trip to "Sprint Car Heaven," is up next for CJB and Stewart. Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway will host the 'Greatest Show on Dirt,' for the Brownells Big Guns Bash on Friday, June 14th and Saturday, June 15th. There is plenty of reason for optimism in the CJB camp as many fans will remember a dominating performance by the team at the 2017 Knoxville Nationals. Also of note, Stewart is quite successful himself at Marion County Fairgrounds with four Knoxville Nationals Preliminary night wins, four Knoxville 360 Nationals victories and three career podium finishes in the Knoxville Nationals.
"I have always loved Knoxville," Stewart said. "Being the only time we get to run there before the Nationals makes it a really important weekend for our team."
