DAWNING OF A SEASON: CJB & Stewart Aim to Kick-Off 2019
Bubba Raceway Park and Volusia springboard car #5 into new year
CARLISLE, PA. – January 30, 2019 - A “Polar Vortex” may be gripping most of the nation but CJB Motorsports is looking looks to heat up their 2019 racing season.
The Carlisle, Pennsylvania based team has been preparing for the onslaught of the new year since November. Now, the perennial championship contender begins to make their way south towards Florida for the opening rounds of what figures to be another winning season.
“I’ve been doing this for quite awhile so I don’t think I have any jitters,” said Shane Stewart, the new wheelmanof the #5 GoMuddy.com, Big Game Tree Stands, Ecynbro Trucking, Nyce, Crete and Landis Block and Concrete, C&S Lawn & Landscape machine. “I’m anxious to get going with this team. It’s a new opportunity for me and one that I am very excited about. I spent three to four days up at the shop last week and the team has been working really hard.”

Stewart, an Oklahoma native, was tapped to climb aboard the Barry Jackson prepared machines at the end of last season. The former Kings Royal winner brings decades of sprint car racing experience to the team that has found considerable success on the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series circuit since becoming a full time member in 2013.
"Obviously, everyone wants to win the Knoxville Nationals and an Outlaw title," Stewart said. "We want those things as a team, of course. Beyond that, I’m really aiming towards a double digit win season. I’ve never had one of those on the Outlaw circuit. This team was able to do it a few years ago. I also want to improve my performance at the tracks in Pennsylvania. Barry has won a lot there and it would be great to get another National Open title as well as more wins at Williams Grove (Speedway) and Lincoln (Speedway.)"
The first stop on the schedule for the team in 2019 will be at Bubba Raceway Park near Ocala, Florida for three nights, beginning on Thursday, January 31st. The tilt will be sanctioned by the Ollies Bargain Outlet Allstar Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil One.
"I’ve never been able to race there so it will be a new experience for me," Stewart said. "It will be a great opportunity to build chemistry with the team. It’s really key for the driver and crew chief to get on the same page. I’m excited to get to work on that with Barry (Jackson.)”
From there, the team will move over to a newly renovated Volusia Speedway Park near Barberville, Florida for two more nights of All Star sanctioned action on Wednesday, February 6th and Thursday, February 7th. The 2019 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season begins on Friday, February 8th with a weekend triple header.
“We get to race there five nights so you see a little bit of everything, track surface wise,” Stewart said. “In looking at the forecast, it’ll be warm down there. Volusia is also at sea level and, with the air temps, is known as a place where engines get tested. I haven’t run Kistler engines in a while but I know they make great power and we’ll be fine there. When the track slicks off, it can be one of the trickier half-miles to get around. The backstretch is rounded there so you’ll see a lot of passes start off of turn two and into turn three. World Racing Group has made it one of the best facilities that we go to through their improvements so we are looking forward to it.”
