CHARGING FOR KANSAS: Gravel and CJB Motorsports Head for Sunflower State
Run through Indiana and Ohio has Pennsylvania based team looking for more as season concludes
CARLISLE, PA. - October 15, 2018 - Another month in 2018 yielded yet a familiar headline for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Rain forced the cancellation of a rescheduled event at Jacksonville (Illi.) Speedway on Friday, October 11th. That meant that David Gravel and the CJB Motorsports team would open the weekend at the racy Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track on Saturday, October 12th. The #5 car timed in 6th, finished 2nd in his heat race and finished 4th in the Craftsman Club Dash.
“Terre Haute is a fun, fast place to run,” Gravel said. “It’s been a few years since we went there. Had a decent car there. Timed in well, raced in the heat well and made the dash. Just didn’t have it during the feature and we slipped back a ways. It was disappointing. We did get a 10th place finish.”

The team traveled across I-70 into the Buckeye state of Ohio for a final event at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg. In the #LastCallforThemAll event, Gravel timed in 12th in flight B of time trials, finished 4th in the heat race and rolled off 16th.
“Eldora is hot and cold for us lately,” Gravel explained. “We were hoping for better with this being the last trip for the year. Got buried a bit in time trials and we spent the rest of the night just trying to dig out of that. We finished 17th.”
The Sunflower State plays host to two World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events. On Friday, October 19th, the team will race at Lakeside Speedway near Kansas City, Kan. The following night, the Boot Hill Showdown takes center stage in Dodge City, Kan.
“A couple of really good tracks for us coming up,” commented Gravel. “We had weather issues at Dodge City last year so we’re looking forward to it. It’s a really nice track and the fans don’t get too much sprint car action so they’re excited to see us. Lakeside is a place we’ve ran well at. It’s a cool half mile. Hoping for good things.”
