EXCITED FOR ELDORA: CJB Wraps Up West Coast Swing and Heads East
Ohio and Pennsylvania play host to ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ as September rolls on
CARLISLE, PA. - September 17, 2018 - Another west coast swing has come and gone and the CJB Motorsports team is looking forward to what lays ahead as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season winds down.
The final trio of races out west were held at Placerville (Calif.) Speedway and Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway. Up first was the event at Placerville, which was hosted by Knoxville Nationals champion, Brad Sweet. Gravel timed in 28th, finished 6th in his heat race and had to take a provisional to make the A-feature on the evening.
“We got behind in time trials,” Gravel said. “It was tricky to make up ground and we had to deal with some setbacks. We kept fighting and made up 11 spots to finish 13th. As a silver lining, we did win the KSE Hard Charger Award.”
A weekend doubleheader at Calistoga Speedway was up next. On the opening night, Gravel and the CJB car timed in 13th, finished 5th in the heat race and started the feature in the 13th position.
“We timed in a bit better,” Gravel explained. “We just couldn’t make up much ground in the feature event and finished where we started.”
Night number two found Gravel timing in 12th, finished 3rd in the hear race and starting 9th in the feature.
“A lot of the same story on the second night,” commented Gravel. “It was disappointing, but we did end up with a top-10 through it all.”
That wraps up racing action on the west coast for the year for the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ and the series now moves to the Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio to be apart of the star studded 4-Crown Weekend on Friday, September 20th before making a visit to Lernerville Speedway near Sarver, Pa. the following night for the “Commonwealth Clash.”
“Eldora is a great place for us to get back on track,” said Gravel. “We need to get timed in quick and that will help get us into a great position to start the feature. Lernerville is another great place for us and we’re looking for another win there.”
